My Story
My Name is J.J. Paulson,
I wanted to create a space, not just for my books, but for ALL of my works of art. So here you will find my books, my photography prints, as well as my drawings.
Now for a little bit about me:
I’ve always been on the creative end of the spectrum. Drawing was my first endeavor. Since I was a child, I would draw. To this day, my mother calls me out on not continuing that youthful pursuit. She always tells me how much she loved my drawings. As with all of my forms of art, I’ve never had any education in it (besides the usual basics), nor do I have any formal background in anything. All my arts are strictly expression and learning as I go.
My poetry started in dreams of being a songwriter/frontman for a band. I’d say music is biggest inspiration and teacher. I started officially writing songs and poetry around 2012 and eventually poetry as well.
A few years ago I decided to dabble in photography as a way of building stories with images and immortalizing moments I find beautiful.
Also a few years ago, I decided I wanted to write a book, with the sole purpose of giving lost souls a purpose. But I couldn’t quite figure it out. And then I rediscovered my poetry. So…
In 2024, I started writing things down in my journal and realized this self release could be used in poetry. In 2025 I bought my Underwood typewriter, and made the goal to publish a poetry book by 2026.
I spend the whole year researching, writing, drawing, editing, and making sure everything was “perfect.” Then, at the top of 2026 I self published my debut Poetry book “To The Flowers That Bloomed.” I’m so very proud of it and really hope you enjoy it.
All the Artwork created for it was done by me. All artwork you see in future books and on this website was done by me, in procreate and Adobe Illustrator on my IPad. As I mentioned before, I have no formal background or training in art, so any drawing/art for me takes a painstakingly amount of time. But it’s worth it, and I get to make my mother proud by continuing art. And I truly am proud of the full independent work I have done for this book.
I have already started my next poetry book. As I’m learning more and more, I find myself even more excited to share it all!
So I welcome you…on this journey with me
-JJ
